A 100 mol liquid mixture contains 50 % Benzene, 30 % Toluene and 20 % Xylene on a mole
basis. On evaporation, the liquid loses 30 % Benzene, 10 % Toluene and 5 % Xylene. If a second
liquid mixture containing 0.0781 kg Benzene, 0.277 kg Toluene and 1.59 kg of Xylene is added to
the remaining mixture after evaporation. Compute the following. (Data: M. Wt. of Benzene,
Toluene and Xylene are 78.11, 92.14 and 106.16 g/g mol, respectively)
(a) The composition of the remaining liquid mixture after evaporation.
(b) The composition of the liquid mixture after addition of second liquid mixture.
(c) Represent the above compositions along with the initial composition on a properly labeled
triangular graph paper and mark the region of composition change.
