A 100 turn rectangular coil 30 cm x 15cm is placed in an uniform magnetic field of induction
2x10 Tesla. The rectangular coil is suspended by phosphar bronze wise whose twist constant is
12x10Nm/deg. The coil carries a current I amp and is deflected through 30°, compute restoring torque , current

Answer:

By using formula;

Q/I = BAN/K

where,

N = 100, A = 0.3 x 0.15 = 0.045, B = 20, Q = 30 degree, K = 120

I = (30 x 120)/ (20 x 0.045 x 100)

I = 40 Amps

---------------------------------------------

for torque

= NIABcos(90-Q)

= 100 x 40 x 0.045 x cos60 (because the angle is between the normal from coil and magnetic field)

= 90 Nm
