Assuming bulbs are of same type , Bulb consuming more Power should grow brighter ...

Bulbs are in series , current is same in both bulbs , Power is current square multplied by resistance , since resistance of 100 W is more , it shall glow brighter.

hope it helped.

Given :

Two bulbs of 100 W and 500 W bulb are joined in series .

To Find :

Which one will glow brighter .

Solution :

We know , in series current remains constant .

Now , power is given by :

P=i^2R

Therefore ,

\dfrac{P_1}{P_2}=\dfrac{R_1}{R_2}\\\\\dfrac{100}{500}=\dfrac{R_1}{R_2}\\\\R_2=5R_1

Here , resistance of 100 W bulb is less than 500 W bulb .

Therefore , bulb of 100 W will grow brighter .
