Solution :

Given:

✏ Two masses which are joined with massless string are placed on frictionless surface as shown in the figure.

✏ External force on system = 10N

To Find:

✏ Tension in the string

Concept:

✏ First we have to calculate acceleration of whole system after that we can find out tension force in the string with the help of net force method.

Calculation:

  • Calculation of acceleration

 \implies \sf \:  \red{F_{net} = (m_A + m_B) \times a} \\  \\  \implies \sf \: 10 = (3 + 2) \times a \\  \\  \implies \sf \: 10 = 5a \\  \\  \implies \:  \boxed{ \sf{ \blue{a = 2 \: m {s}^{ - 2}}}}

  • Calculation of tension in string

✏ Net force on A block is given by

 \implies \sf \:  \green{T = m_ A \times a} \\  \\  \implies \sf \: T = 3 \times 2 \\  \\  \implies \:  \underline{ \boxed{ \bold{ \sf{ \orange{ \large{T = 6 \: N}}}}}} \:  \gray{ \bigstar}
