B and D belongs to same period as they have same no.of shells .
A and E belongs to same group as they have same valency.

see , in a peroid from left to right always see the number of shells and in a group from top to bottom always see valency.

elements belong to same period are:- A and e and elements belong to you same group are b and d.
this will become more clear as both a and e have same number of electrons in their outermost shell.
and both b and d have same number of of shells.
