A 1250 w , 115v heater operates at 115v. What is the resistance of the heating coil

Answer:

Power (Watts) = Voltage x Current (Amps) and Voltage = Current x Resistance

Some quick algebra and we get Resistance = Voltage ^squared / Power

resistance of heater in question = 250 Volts ^squared / 500 Watts

or 125 Ohms (that sounds like a lot of ohms at first glance, but I’m not an electrician, I don’t know the numbers inside an electric heater;)
