Step-by-step explanation:

We have a equation: 2x2+7x+3

I tried to find the vertex of the parabola by this formula: a(x−h)2+k

but I could not get it.

I got this: but it is not right.

2(x2+72x+494)+3−492

What's the problem? Is it possible to solve it by completing square?

Answer:

x2−5x+5=0

x2−5x=−5

(1) Divide the equation by the coefficient of x2

x2−15x=−15

(2) Add the square of half the coefficient of x , both sides

x2−5x+(25)2=−5+(25)2

(x−25)2=−5+425=45

⇒x−25=±45=±25

x=25±25
