a 15 m long ladder reached a window 12m high from the ground on placing it against a wall at a distance a. find the distance of foot of the ladder from the wall

jindalakash200pdtfg5: Ladder's height = 15m. and windows height = 12m, here we will use Pythagoras theorem. Let the distance between foot of Ladder and foot of Wall on which window is there = X, now, Use PGT , (x)(x) + (12)(12) = (15)(15), (x)(x) + 144 = 225, (x)(x) = 225-144, (x)(x) = 81, (x)(x) = (9)(9), therefore, x = 9

length of ladder = 15

height of window above the ground=12

distance=x

by pythagoras thm

15^2=12^2+x^2

x=9
