SOLUTION

GIVEN

A 150 m long train crosses a bridge that is 450 m long in 50 sec with a constant velocity.

TO DETERMINE

The velocity of the train

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the 150 m long train crosses a bridge that is 450 m long in 50 sec with a constant velocity

Length of the train = 150 m

Length of the bridge = 450 m

Since the train crosses the bridge

So the total distance travelled

= Length of the train + Length of the bridge

= 150 m + 450 m

= 600 m

Thus the train travels 600 m in 50 sec

Hence the velocity of the train

\displaystyle\sf{ =  \frac{600}{50} \:  \: m /s}

\displaystyle\sf{ =  12 \:  \: m /s}
