Answer:

The velocity of the bigger part is 10√2 m/s.

Explanation:

Given;-

    Mass of bomb, m = 1 kg

    Ratio of exploded parts, = 1:1:3

Let their masses be x, then,

                             m₁ = x

                             m₂ = x

                             m₃ = 3x

Let the velocities of m₁ and m₂ be v₁ and v₂ = 30 m/s (given)

Then, let the velocity of the bigger part be v₃.

Now;

Since the bomb is initially at stationary, the net initial momentum is zero. Then, the net final momentum will also be zero. So,

                          Pi = Pf = 0

          P₁ + P₂ + P₃ = Pf = 0

       m₁v₁ + m₂v₂ + m₃v₃ = 0

            x(30) + x(30) = - 3x(v₃)

                     30√2x = - 3x(v₃)

                           10√2 = |v₃|

Hence, the velocity of the bigger particle is 10√2 m/s.

Hope it helps! ;-))
