Solve the equation :-

 \sf\dfrac{a}{2}  + 3 = 5

Transposing 3 from LHS to RHS, changing its sign,

 \sf  \dfrac{a}{2}  = 5 - 3

On simplifying,

 \sf  \dfrac{a}{2}  = 2

Transposing 2 from LHS to RHS, changing its sign,

 \sf a = 2 \times 2

On simplifying,

 \sf a = 4.

So, the value of a is 4.

Verification :-

To check our answer, we just need to put 4 (The value of a) in place of a.

Putting 4 in place of a, we get :-

 \sf \dfrac{4}{2}  + 3 = 5

3 can also be written as 3/1, so,

 \sf  \dfrac{4}{2}  +  \dfrac{3}{1}  = 5

The LCM of the denominators (2 and 1) is 2.

So we will put 2 as the denominator.

Now add the fractions.

  \sf\dfrac{(4 \times 1) + (3 \times2)  }{ \:  \: 2}

On simplifying,

  \sf\dfrac{4 + 6 }{2}

Adding, we get :-

 =   \sf\dfrac{10}{2}

10 and 2 are both divisible by 2, so reduce them.

We get :-

 \sf \dfrac{5}{1}  = 5.

 \sf5 = 5.

Since LHS = RHS,

Hence verified! ✔️✔️
