 {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  -  {(a + b)}^{2}  \\  =  {a}^{2}  -  {b}^{2}  -  ({a}^{2}  + 2ab +  {b}^{2} ) \\  =  - 2 {b}^{2}  - 2ab \\  =  - 2b(a + b)
