Here a-b=2

And ab=4

Now (a+b)^2=(a-b)^2+4ab

Or, (a+b)^2=(2)^2+4×4

Or, (a+b)^2=4+16

Or, (a+b)^2=20

Or, a+b=√20

Or,a+b=√(2×2×5)

Or, a+b=+-2√5

Therefore a+b=+2√5,-2√5.
