the number is 13

Given:- sum of the digits of two digit number=4

To find:- The number

Formula:- This can be solve using linear equations.

Solution:-

Let the tens digit be x and unit digit be y

So the number becomes 10x+y

Sum of digits = 4

x + y = 4

x=4-y....eq1

Now when 8 is added to number it becomes = 10x+y+8

Now digits are reversed of this new number

So new number is 10y+x

10y+x = 10x+y+8

10y+x -10x -y=8

9y-9x=8

now putting value of x from eq 1

9y - 9(4-y) = 8

9y - 36 + 9y = 8

18y = 8+36

18y = 44

y = 2.4 rounding off

y=3

x = 4 - y

x= 4 - 3

x=1

So the number becomes 13
