The resultant force on  the stone due to tension and weight is 8 N

Explanation:

  • Let the tension in the string be   =  T  ( N )
  • The value of tension T in vertical direction  is:
  • T cos θ  =  m g

The centripetal force in the circle will be provided by T sinθ

T sin θ  = mv^2 / r

[Since sin θ  = 1/2]

T x  1/2 = 2 x 1^2 / 0.5

T = 2 x 2 / 0.5

T = 4 / 0.5 = 8 N

Thus the resultant force on  the stone due to tension and weight is 8 N
