Given:

A 20 litres container has 2 kg of gas .

To Find:

Density of gas

Solution:

Density of a gas is defined as the mass of gas contained per cubic meter space.

Density is denoted by \rho .

\rho = \frac{Mass}{volume}

SI unit of density = \frac{kg}{m^{3} }

Density depends on pressure and temperature.

density of gas = \frac{PM}{RT}

As pressure increases , number of collisions increase  and hence molecules comes closer to each other, hence density increase.

As the temperature increases, bonds will break . hence density decrease with temperature.

Given volume of container = 20 litres

1 litre = 0.001 cubic meter.

1 litre = 1000 cubic centimeter.

volume of container= volume of gas

\rho = \frac{m}{V}\\ \rho = \frac{2000}{1000} \\\rho = 2 \frac{g}{cc}

Density of gas is 2 grams per cubic centimetres.
