Given :

• Force acting on the object = 20 N

• Initial velocity of the object = 10 m/s

• Final velocity of the object = 30 m/s

• It's velocity changes in time = 2 seconds

To find :

• Mass of the object

Concept :

To find the mass of the object, we need the value of acceleration of the object. So, by using the first equation of motion we will calculate the acceleration then by using the formula of force we will get the value of mass of the object.

First equation of motion :-

  • v = u + at

Formula of force :-

  • Force = ma

where,

• v denotes the final velocity of the object

• u denotes the initial velocity of the object

• a denotes the acceleration of the object

• t denotes the time

• m denotes the mass

Solution :

Calculating the acceleration of the object :-

⟶ v = u + at

we have,

  • v = 30 m/s
  • u = 10 m/s
  • t = 2 seconds

Substituting the given values :-

⟶ 30 = 10 + a(2)

⟶ 30 - 10 = 2 × a

⟶ 20 = 2 × a

⟶ 20/2 = a

⟶ 10 = a

⟶ The value of a = 10

Therefore, the acceleration of the object = 10 m/s²

Now, calculating the mass of the object :-

⟶ Force = ma

we have,

  • Force = 20 N
  • a = 10 m/s²

Substituting the given values :-

⟶ 20 = m × 10

⟶ 20/10 = m

⟶ 2 = m

⟶ The value of m = 2

Therefore,

  • The mass of the object = 2 kg
