Given :

  • Resistance of Resistor, R = 20 Ω
  • Charge through the Resistor, Q = 40 C
  • time for which charged passed, t = 5 sec

To find :

  • Potential difference across the resistor, V = ?

Formulae to be used :

  • Relation between Current (I) , charge (Q) and time (t)

      I = Q / t

  • Relation between Current (I) , potential difference (V) and resistance (R)

     V = I R

Solution :

Calculating current (I) through the Resistor

Using formula

→ I = Q / t

→ I = 40 / 5

I = 8 A

  • therefore, Current through the resistor is 8 Amperes.

Calculating potential difference (V) through the resistor

Using formula

→ V = I R

→ V = ( 8 ) ( 20 )

V = 160 V

  • therefore, Potential difference through the resistor is 160 Volts .

Given ,

Resistance (R) = 20 o

Charge (q) = 40 c

Time (t) = 5 sec

We know that ,

The rate of unit charge is called electric current

 \boxed{ \sf{Current \:  (I) =  \frac{q}{t} }}

Thus ,

I = 40/5

I = 8 amp

Now , the relationship between current and potential difference is given by

 \boxed{ \sf{V = IR}}

Thus ,

V = 8 × 20

V = 160 volt

Therefore ,

  • The potential differences across the resistor is 160 v
