A 200 W bulb emits monochromatic light of wavelength 1400 Å and only 10% of the energy is emitted as light. The number of photons emitted
by the bulb per second will be

(1) 1.4 x 10^18
(2) 1.4 x 10^20
(3) 1.4 x 10^19
(4) 1.4 x 10^21

Answer: c) 1.4×10^19

Explanation:

Total energy =200 J

As given only 10% of energy is used

10% of 200 =20J

Energy of one photon = hc/

λ

=6.625×10^-34×3×10^8/14×10^-8

=14.4×10^-19

Number of photons =Total Energy/Energy of one proton

N=(20÷14.4)×10^19

=1.4 ×10^19
