Answer: Maximum speed: 67.18 m/s

Given:

Radius = 750 m

                    \Theta = 5^{\circ}

The coefficient of friction \mu_s = 0.5

Solution:

Formula for maximum speed V_{max} = \sqrt{r \times g [sin\Theta+\mu_s cos\Theta]/ [cos\Theta-\mu_s sin\Theta]}

where g = 9.8 m/s2

               V_{max} = \sqrt {750 \times 9.8 [sin(5^{\circ}) + (0.5)cos(5^{\circ})] / [cos(5^{\circ}) - (0.5) sin(5^{\circ})]}

               V_{max} = \sqrt {750 \times 9.8 [(0.087) + (0.5)(0.996)] / [(0.996) - (0.5)(0.087)]}

               V_{max} = \sqrt { 7350 [(0.087) + (0.498)] / [(0.996)-(0.0435)]}

               V_{max} = \sqrt {7350 (0.585) / (0.9525)}

               V_{max} = \sqrt {4514.173}

               V_{max} = 67.18 m/s
