Distance travelled by the car before it comes to rest = 78.125 m

Given , Force exerted by the brakes = 500 N

mass of the car = m = 2000 kg

Force = mass × acceleration

=> 500 = 2000 × a

=> a = 4 m/s²

v = velocity of the car before applying the brakes = 25 m/s

u = final velocity = 0

s = distance travelled by the car before coming to rest after braking

Using u²=v²-2as

=> 0 = 625 - 2 × 4 × s

=> s = 78.125 m

Distance travelled by the car =78.125 m
