A 20gm particle moves in SHM with a frequency of 3 oscillations per second and amplitude of 5cm.Through what total distance does the particle move during one oscillation? What is its average speed?

Calculation:

Amplitude = 5cm

So total distance travelled in one complete oscillation

= 4 times of amplitude

= 4 * 5

= 20 cm.

Now 3 oscillations in 1 second

=> therefore 1 oscillation in 1/3 second.

Average speed

= (total distance/total time)

= (20)/(1/3)

= 20*3

= 60 cm/sec.
