A 20m ladder placed is against the wall in such way that the foot of the ladder is 16 away from the the wall how up on the wall is upper end of the layer​

Given: height of ladder = 20m

Distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall = 16m

If you will imagine the image formed is a right angled triangle

Where height of ladder is hypotenuse=20

and base =16

By pythagoras theorem

h^{2}  = p {}^{2}  + b {}^{2}

20*20=p2 + 16*16

4000=p2 + 256

p2=4000-256

p=3744

p =  \sqrt{3744}

p=61.188 (ans)
