A 220 V mains supply provides 650 W of power to an electrical device.
(i) Calculate the current supplied by the mains to the electrical device.
(ii) Calculate the energy supplied to the electrical device in 5 minutes.

i) 2.95 A

ii) 54.17 Wh

Explanation:

Potential Difference ( V ) = 220V

Power ( P) = 650 W

i) We know that

P = VI

=> I = P/V

So , I = 650/220

= 2.95 A

ii) Energy = Power x Time

= 650 W x 5/60 h

= 650/12 Wh

= 54.17 Wh
