Given:

✰ A 222 metre long train crosses a pole in 6 seconds.

✰ The same train corsses a man running in the same direction in 10 seconds.

To find:

✠ What will be the speed of man?

Solution:

We know that,

Distance = Speed/Time

➛ Speed of train = 222/6

➛ Speed of train = 37 m/sec

∴ The speed of train = 37 m/sec

Let the speed of man be x m/sec.

Time = Distance/Speed

Time taken = 222/(37 - x) sec

According to the question

➤ 222/(37 - x) = 10

➤ 222 = 10(37 - x)

➤ 222 = 370 - 10x

➤ 10x = 370 - 222

➤ 10x = 148

➤ x = 148/10

➤ x = 14.8 ≈ 15 (approx.)

∴ The speed of man 15 m/sec
