A 26 m long ladder reached a window 24 m from the ground on placing it against a wall. find the distance of foot of the ladder from the wall.

ANSWERS:-

In the figure above,

AB=distance from the ground to the window

BC=distance of foot of the ladder from the wall

CA=length of the ladder

given that,

AB=24m, CA=26m

now from rt. triangle ABC

AC²=AB²+BC²

26²=24²+BC²

676=576+BC²

BC²=676-576

BC²=100

BC=√100

BC=10

.'.required distances of foot of the ladder from the wall=10m

so the correct option is (a)10m

AC be ladder

since AB is perpendicular to BC

by Pythagoras theorem

AC²=AB²+BC²

26²-24²=BC²

676-576=BC²

BC²=100

BC=10

thus

answer is 10m
