The answer is 18N

GIVEN

A 3 kg model airplane is traveling at a speed of 33 m/s. The operator then increases the speed up to 45 m/s in 2 seconds.

TO FIND

How much force did the engine need in order to make this change?

SOLUTION

The above problem can be simply solved as follows;

Force = Mass × acceleration

Acceleration(a) = (final velocity - initial velocity)/Time

= (45-33)/2

= 12/2

= 6m/s²

Force = 3 × 6

= 18 N

Hence, The answer is 18N
