30 grams = 0.030 kg

Initial velocity = 120 m/s

Final velocity = 0 m/s

Distance convered = 12 cm = 0.12 m

Acceleration =

 {v}^{2} = {u}^{2} + 2as \\ {0}^{2} = {120}^{2} + 2 \times a \times 0.12 \\ - 14400 = 0.24 \times a \\ a = - \frac{ 14400}{0.24} \\ a = - \frac{ 1440000}{24} \\ a = - \frac{ 120000}{2} \\ a = - 60000 \: m {s}^{ - 2}

Force = mass × acceleration

 = 0.030 \times ( - 60000) \\ = \frac{30}{1000} \times - 60000 \\ = 30 \times - 60 \\ = - 1800 \: newtons

Force applied by the wooden block will be 1800 Newtons.
