Given:-

Before Collision

For vehicle:-

  • Mass of Vehicle (m¹) = 300kg

  • Initial Velocity of Vehicle (u¹) = 55m/s

For Truck:-

  • Mass of Truck (m²)= 1000kg

  • Initial Velocity of the truck (u²) = 60km/h = -16.6m/s(as it was moving in opposite direction)

After Collision they move together.

To Find:-

  • The new Velocity of the Vehicles after hit.

Concept Used:-

  • Conservation of momentum.

Now,

According to Conservation of momentum,

Total Momenta Before Collision = Total Momenta After Collision

m¹u¹ + m²u² = m¹v¹ + m²v²

  • After Collision they move with the same velocity.

(300)(55) + (1000)(-16.6) = (300 + 1000)v

16500 -16600 = 1300v

-100 = 1300v

v = -100/1300

v = -0.23m/s

Hence, The new Velocity after the Vehicle is -0.23m/s.
