v=72kmph=20m/s

velocity= distance/time

here distance = train length + bridge length

hence d=1700+300=2000m

20=2000/t

t= 100s

Solution:

  • Length of train = 300 m
  • Speed of Train = 72 km/hr
  • Length of Bridge = 1700 m

Find Speed of train in m/s:

→ 72 × 5/18

→ 4 × 5 m/s

→ 20 m/s

Find total journey:

Total Distance = Length of train + Bridge

Total Distance = 300 + 1700 m

Total Distance = 2,000 m

Find time taken by the train to cross a bridge:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = 2000 ÷ 20

Time = 100 Seconds

Therefore, time taken by the train to cross a bridge of length 1700 meters is 100 Seconds.
