A rectangular plot has benn fenced with 300m long wire. Find the lenght and width of the plot if the length is twice its width?
1- Let x=width. If the length is twice the width, then the length must be 2 times x.
2- The formula for perimeter says that the perimeter is equal to 2 times the length plus 2 times the width. Therefore, 300 = 2(2x)+2(x).
3- Combine like terms.

300 = 4x + 2x
300 = 6x
4- Divide both sides by 6.
300/6 = 6x/6
50 = x
5- The width is 50 m
length = 100m

heya frnd!

here's ur answer...

a 300m long wire is used to fence the rectangular plot,it means the perimeter of the rectangular plot is 300m.

given that the length is twice it's breadth.

so the breadth of the rectangular plot be x.

therefore length will be 2x

perimeter of the rectangular plot = 300m

→ 2 ( l + b ) = 300m

→ 2 ( 2x + x ) = 300m

→ 2 × 3x = 300m

→ 3x = 300/2

→ 3x = 150m

→ x = 150/3

→ x = 50m

hence the breadth of the rectangular plot = x

= 50m

length of the rectangular plot = 2x

= 2 × 50

= 100m

★ VERIFICATION ★

perimeter of the rectangular plot = 2 ( l + b )

= 2 ( 100 + 50 )

= 2 × 150

= 300m

hence verified.

hope this helps..!
