A 35 m long ladder just reaches a window of a building. If the ladder makes an angle theta with the level ground,such that tan theta =1/2√6.

1-height of window   = 35 (( 1 +   2√6) /23

2-horizontal distance of the foot if the ladder from the building = (58 x + 70 √6) /23

Step-by-step explanation:

height of ladder = 35 m

tan  theta =  1/2√6

let height of wndow  = x

tan  theta =  height of window  / base

1/2√6  =  x / x +35

x +35 = 2√6 x

x - 2√6 x  = -35

x( 1-  2√6)  = - 35

x = - 35 / ( 1-  2√6)

=  - 35 (( 1 +   2√6) / (( 1-  2√6) ( 1 +  2√6))

=  - 35 (( 1 +   2√6) /  (1 - 24)

x =  35 (( 1 +   2√6) /23

2)horizontal distance of the foot if the ladder from the building

= x +35 (( 1 +   2√6) /23

=( 23 x + 35 x + 70 √6) /23

= (58 x + 70 √6) /23
