A=3i+4j and B =i-j , are two vector in x-y plane.
Let their resultant is given by
R , Thus R = 3i+4j + i - j => 4i -3j

We know resultant to two vectors is given by
R = √A²+B²+2ABcos∅
Here ∅ = 90° since the vectors are perpendicular to each other
thus R = √4²+(-3)²+0 => 5

Add these two vectors first, then find its magnitude using
R=√A²+B²+2ABcos90°
cos90° = 0 since vectors are in x-y plane,so angle is 90°.

hope it helps. :)
