This is a question on mirrors.

The formula relating the focal length ,the image and object distance is as follows.

1/f = 1/u + 1/v

Where :

f = focal length

u = image distance

v = object distance

Doing the substitution we have :

1/8 = 1/6 + 1/u

1/u = 1/8 -1/6

1/u = -1/24

u = -24 cm

the negative sign indicates that the image is virtual.

the image distance is thus :

24 cm
