Answer:

14 units

Explanation:

40W + 60W + 100W = 200W

= 200W per day

1 week = 7 days

so , 7 × 200W

= 1400W

1 unit = 100W

thus, 1400W ÷ 100W

= 14 units

therefore , answer = 14 units

\sf\huge\underline{Explanation :-}

Given :

  • A 40 W bulb, a 60 W bulb and a 100 W fan are used in a household.
  • They are used for 10 hours everyday.

To find :

  • Total units of electricity used in one week.

Solution :

Total watts of energy used = Energy used by bulb + Energy used by another bulb + Energy used by fan

= 40 W + 60 W + 100 W

= 140 W

Therefore, the total consumption of electrical energy by all appliances in an hour is 140 W.

Now, Total consumption of energy in 10 hours :-

= (140 × 10) watt hour

= 1400 watt hour

or, In kilo watt hour => 1400/1000 = 1.4 kilowatt hour or unit.

Now, Total consumption of energy in a week :-

= (1.4 × 7) unit

[Since, a week has 7 days.]

= 9.8 units.

Hence, the total units of electricity used in one week in the household is 9.8 units.
