A 4cm tall is placed perpendicular to principal axis of convex lens of focal length 20cm.If distance of object is 30cm from lens then find the position, nature and size of image.Also find its magnification.

u=-30 cm
h=4 cm
using lens formula,
1/f = 1/v - 1/u
-1/20 = 1/v - (-1/30)
V = -30 cm
We know that,
magnification= -v/u = h'/h
30/-20 = h'/4
h' = -6
Therefore, Magnification = -3/2
The image formed is real and inverted.
