The distance of image from mirror is 24 cm.

Solution:

The object is placed at a distance of 12 cm from concave mirror which has a height of 5 cm. distance between image and mirror is attained by –

Given: h = 5 cm

           u = -12 cm

To find: v = ?

f = - 24 cm

As we know that, \frac{1}{f}=\frac{1}{v}+\frac{1}{u}

\begin{array}{l}{\frac{1}{-24}=\frac{1}{v}+\frac{1}{-12}} \\ \\{\frac{1}{-24}=\frac{1}{v}-\frac{1}{12}} \\ \\{\frac{1}{-24}+\frac{1}{12}=\frac{1}{v}}\end{array}

\begin{aligned} \frac{1}{v} &=-1+\frac{2}{-24} \\ \frac{1}{v} &=\frac{1}{-24} \\ v &=-24 \mathrm{cm} \end{aligned}
