m1 x v1 = m2 x v2
5500 x (- z) = 1.1 x 450
z = (- 0.09) m/sec

z is the recoil velocity of the rifle

ShivamMalvi: what is 2nd velocity?
ShivamMalvi: is it of the rifle
ShivamMalvi: is it okay now?
JunaidMirza: 5.5 kg = 5500 grams
ShivamMalvi: I already know that

Momentum is conserved

Initial momentum = Final momentum
0 = Momentum of rifle + Momentum of bullet
0 = Mv + mu

v = - (mu) / M
= - (1.1 × 10^-3 kg × 450 m/s) / (5.5 kg)
= - 0.09 m/s
Here negative sign indicates that gun recoils in the direction opposite to that of bullet.

Recoil velocity of gun is 0.09 m/s
