Explanation:

Object size, h = +5 cm

focal length, f = +20 (f is positive for a convex lens)

object distance, u= -30

image distance, v=?

image size =?

using the formula,

1/v-1/v=1/f

1/v=1/u+1/f

=1/-30+1/20

=-2+3/60

=1/60

image distance, v= +60 cm

magnification, m=v/u

60×5/-30

=-10 cm

the positive sign of v shows that the image is formed at a distance of 60 cm to the right of optical center of the lens.

the image is real and inverted.

the image is two times enlarged than the size of the object.
