F = MA

here

M = 5kg

A = 9.8m/s-1 or 10

hence F

= 5 ×9.8

  • Given that weight / mass of the book is 5 kg and its rest on the table
  • As we know the force acting on a object due to the gravitational force  F = mg where m is mass of object and g the acceleration due to gravity  
  • We know that the value of g =  9.8 m/s⁻¹

Therefore,

The force acting on the table = mass of book × g

                                              F = 5 kg × 9.8 m/s⁻¹  = 49 N

The force exerting on the table because of book = 49 N
