Answer

WE KNOW

According to law of conservation of momentum

Final movement= initial movement

so

Let v be the recoil velocity.

Momentum = mass ×velocity

so,

at initially both gun and bullet are at rest

so

P(1)= 0

p(1)=p(2)

=>
0 = 5v - \frac{10}{1000} \times 250

0 = 5v - 40

5v = 40

v = \frac{40}{5}

v = 8m {s}^{ - 1}
