A 5 kg stone of relative density 3 is resting at
the bed of a lake. It is raised through a height
of 5 m in the lake. If g = 10 m/s2, then work done is

a)500/3 J

b)350/3 J

c)750/3 J

d)550/3 J

plz give correct and good explanation.

The work done by the stone is 250/3N.

Given:-

Mass of stone = 5kg

Relative density of stone = 3

Height raised = 5m

g = 10m/s²

To Find:-

The work done by the stone.

Solution:-

We can easily calculate the value of work done by the stone by using these simple steps.

As

Mass of stone (m) = 5kg

Relative density of stone (d) = 3

Height raised (h) = 5m

g = 10m/s²

Work done (w) =?

We all know, work done by stone = bouyancy

w = mg×s

According to the formula,

a = g(1 -  \frac{dw}{ds} )

a = g \times (1 -  \frac{1}{3} )

a =  - \frac{g}{3}

here, negative sign represents opposite nature.

Now,

w = f \times s

w = ma \times s

w = 5 \times  \frac{g}{3}  \times 5

w = 5 \times  \frac{10}{3}  \times 5

w =  \frac{250}{3}

Hence, The work done by the stone is 250/3N.
