A 5% solution (by mass) of cane sugar in water has freezing point of 271K. Calculate the freezing point of 5% glucose in water if freezing point of pure water is 273.15 K.

There are 50 gms of glucose in water (1kg).
     Kf = 1.853 deg K  kg/mol

molecular mass of glucose  C6 H12 O6 = 180

depression in freezing point:  1.853 * 50/180 = 0.514 deg K

freezing point:  272.635 deg K
