C = Capacitance of the capacitor = 50 μF = 50 x 10⁻⁶ F

V = potential difference to which the capacitor is charged = 3000 Volts

E = energy stored by the capacitance

energy stored by the capacitance is given as

E = (0.5) C V²

inserting the values given above

E = (0.5) (50 x 10⁻⁶) (3000)²

E = (0.5) (50 x 10⁻⁶) (9 x 10⁶)

E = (0.5) (50) (9)

E = 225 J

t = duration of the pulse = 2 ms = 0.002 sec

Power is given as

P = E/t

P = 225/0.002

P = 112500 Watt
