a 500 word essay about the Mississippi river

The structure should be (total 500 words- you may go over this which is fine but going over 600 words is too much.

a) Introduction (maybe about 100 words approx): identify your river and write some basic facts of the river such as where it's located, length, width, size and the significance of it, perhaps brief history. State what your response will cover. State why your water source is important and emphasise that different natural/human processes affects/influences how much and where the water has gone to etc.

b) BODY- (about 400 words (200 each paragraph) approximately)

i. Body paragraph 1: write about how natural elements affect the river. So what's the climate there? what's the temperature? Weather? How do these factors affect how much water is available at different times of the year? How does it affect people/wildlife who want access to it?

ii. Body paragraph 2: write about the human elements that affect the Mississippi river Who uses the water source? (what kinds of people, what kinds of animals) What do they use it for? (transport?drinking?washing?) How does this affect how much water is available?

c) Conclusion (about 50 words approx): sum up your response, as in, overall why is the Mississippi river important to the people there or society in general?

Answer:

Hey Mate ...!

Native Americans long lived along the Mississippi and its tributaries. Most were hunter-gatherers or herders, but some, such as the Mound builders, formed prolific agricultural societies. The arrival of Europeans in the 1500s changed the native way of life as first explorers, then settlers, ventured into the basin in increasing numbers. The river served first as barrier – forming borders for New Spain, New France, and the early United States – then as vital transportation artery and communications link. In the 19th century, during the height of Manifest Destiny, the Mississippi and several western tributaries, most notably the Missouri, formed pathways for the western expansion of the United States.
