SOLUTION

(a) Let the fractionis nd , where d=3+n

n+5d+5=45

⇒5n+25=9d+20

5n+5=4d

5n+5=12+4n

n=7.

d=3+n

d=10

⇒710

(b) m=4(s)

(m+16)=2(s+16)

⇒m+16=2s+32

4s+16=2s+32

2s=16

s=8

m=4s=32

(c) G−YG=4

YG=4+B

YG+B=16

4+2B=16

2B=12

B=6

YG=4+B=10

G=14

(D) F+S=54

(F−6)=2+4(S−6)

F−6=2+4S−24

F=4S−16

4S−16+S=54

5S=70

S=14

F=40

(E) S=2A

A = 5 + Sandy

sandy+S=16

Sandy +2A=16

Sandy +10+2 sandy=16

Sandy=2

S=14

A=7

(F) S=ut

v=50km/h =50×518 m/sec

t=12×60 sec

S=50×518×12×60

S=10000m=10km

(G) Since the number of men engaged and the number of days taken to do a piece of work are in inverse variation, we have:

50 mens →5 days

1→550

12500 mens →550×125

=12.5 day

(H) 5 girls →4o days

1→4050

80→4080×80

=64

(I) S=ut=40×10=400

400=U×(8)

v=50km/h.
