A 512-hertz sound wave travels 100 meters to an observer through air at STP. What is the wavelength of this sound wave ?
solution : frequency of sound wave, f = 512 Hz
sound wave travels 100 metres to an observer through air at STP .
we know, at STP { standard temperature and pressure } velocity of sound in air = 330 m/s
now using formula,
velocity of sound = wavelength × frequency
330 m/s = wavelength × 512 Hz
so, wavelength = 330/512 = 0.64 m
hence, wavelength of sound wave is 0.64m
