given f= 12cm u=-8cm h1=5cm v=?
using the lens formula 1/f=1/v- 1/u
1/v=1/f+1/u
1/v=1/12 -1/8
1/v=8-12/12*8
1/v= -4/12*8
1/v=-1/24
v=-24cm
So the image is formed at a distance of 24cm on the same side of the lens
m=v/u m=-24/-8
m=3
so the image formed is virtual erect and enlarged .
