Formula for Centre of Mass

X = ( m'x' + m"x" ) / ( m' + m")

Here,

m represents mass of a body.

x represents coordinate of the body.

Given :-

m' = 5kg

x' = 0 ( It is placed on origin )

m" = 9kg

x" = 2 m

Applying Formula

X = [ 5( 0 ) + 9( 2 ) ] / ( 5 + 9 )

X = 18 / 14

X = 9 / 7

Answer

The center of mass is at 9/7 m.
