The force required will be 5/3 N

Explanation:

Given that

Mass of object = m = 5kg

Initial momentum = p = 15kg m/s

Time taken = t = 15s

We know that,

Momentum = mv

Final momentum = mv

                            = 5*8

                            = 40kg m/s

We also know that,

Force is the rate of change of momentum

F = change in momentum/time taken

Change in momenum = 40 - 15 = 25kg m/s

Time taken = 15s

Therefore,

F = 25/15

F = 5/3 N
